Synopsis:
The story of Tom Brennan is written by J.C. Burke and tells the story of a 17-year-old boy's journey. Tom's brother Daniel was involved in a horrific drink-driving accident, which left two passengers dead, their cousin with irreversible spinal damage and saw Daniel go to prison. Tom and his family move out of the small town they were from and in with their grandmother and are forced to start a brand new life. The text contains a series of flashbacks linking the past with the present. It centers around the struggles that Tom faces throughout the long and grueling journey entailing love, loss, endurance and the rebuilding of lives, whilst searching for a ticket out of the past.
